*few years later (Alex is twenty, Hope fifteen, Adam fourteen and Joy is four)
We'd gathered to celebrate mine and Harry's fifteenth wedding anniversary. Both our families had shown up. Our friends. Our four children. Alex and Samantha had come down from school after they said they couldn't make it in an effort to surprise us. I smiled, watching Alex chase Joy around. Though he was away at school, he was still attached to his siblings and they to him. He called them at least twice a week and they called him whenever they needed help with homework. "Want cake?" Harry asked, coming up to me and rubbing my back. I smiled and turned to him, wrapping my arms around his neck. "I already had two slices, stop trying to stuff my face," I grinned against his lips. His hands went down to my hips then to my but, giving me a tight squeeze. "But I like where it ends up..." I gasped and hit his biceps. "Are you calling me fat?" "You should know by now that that's not what a meant," he laughed. Our conversation was interrupted by the sound of something clinking with glass, calling everyone's attention. We both turned to find Alex as the culprit and Joy running to Harry who scooped her up in his arms, her small hands going to grip his hair. "Um," Alex laughed as all eyes fell on him, "I um, I just," he smiled wide, his smile resembling Harry's. "I just wanted to thank you all for joining us in celebrating my parents anniversary. They've been married for fifteen years and in those fifteen years, I've seen them fight, yell at each other, there was even talk about divorce at one point. But, all that is overshadowed by the happiness they brought to one another. The love I saw in my moms eyes whenever my dad came home that twinkle in his eye when she came into his sights. The way they joke and tease one another and the way the tag team to gang up on us," he paused to laugh. "They showed me what a marriage is supposed to be like," he raised up his glass towards us before setting it down on the table, "And I hope I've learned enough from them to carry on that type of love."
