My Kar98K rifle and some common accoutrements. Leather ammunition pouch, wood handled bayonet and some original 8mm Mauser dummy training cartridges. Along with my M1940 helmet. I've traced the serial number range and the Manufacturer code "BCD" (as best as I can) and to my knowledge this rifle was made in 1944 by the Gustloff-Werke firm in Weimar Germany. A common feature for rifles made by this firm was for parts to be made by slave labor from concentration camps, notably Buchenwald, then assembled by Gustloff-Werke.#wehrmacht#germanmilitary#deutschesheer#ww2#worldwartwo#worldwar2#waffenss#germanarmy#easternfront#thirdreich#germansoldier#rifle#mauser#secondworldwar#greatwar#ostfront#k98k#warhistory#militaria#militaryhistory#army

Six German Heinkel He 111 bombers, flying in forma 1668333086100965137

Six German Heinkel He 111 bombers, flying in formation above England during the Battle of Britian, August, 1940----------------------------------------------------------------------Known as the "darkest hour," for the United Kingdom during World War 2, the Luftwaffe pelted the British mainland, abandoning it's targeting of allied factories and industrial complexes in favor of full scale terror bombing of London and other British cities. Throughout the battle, both the Luftwaffe and the RAF lost considerable amounts of aircraft, and bombing runs by both sides decimated the urban population of Berlin and London. It is estimated that there were 90,000 total civilian casualties, 40,000 of those deemed fatal. ----------------------------------------------------------------------The primary aim of the campaign was to force Britain into a peace agreement. In July 1940 the air and sea blockade began, with the Luftwaffe mainly targeting coastal-shipping convoys, ports and shipping centres. As the battle dragged on, they aimed to employ complete air superiority over the RAF, but this soon proved to be much more difficult than expected. It was then that the tactic of terror bombing was employed on areas of political importance and areas with high civilian densities.----------------------------------------------------------------------Winston Churchill, during the battle of Britain was quoted as saying "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few," and in many cases he was right. If it werent for the RAF's defense of the Luftwaffes attempts of air superiority over Britain, then Operation Sealion may have proved possible, (The planned German invasion of the UK) and the history of the war would have turned out far different than we have come to know today.

Josef Albert Meisinger (born September 14, 1899 in Munich, died on March 7, 1947 in Warsaw) - Nazi criminal, commander Einsatzgruppe IV, head of SD and Security Police (Sipo) in Warsaw and SS-Standartenführer. After the outbreak of World War II, Meisinger was assigned to the staff and then became the commander of Einsatzgruppe IV operating in Poland. Her task was to exterminate all "politically uncertain" people, such as the Polish intelligentsia, clergy, landowners and Jews. Einsatzgruppe IV operated in the area of Warsaw, and then it was transformed on October 26, 1939 into the Office of the Commander of the SD and the Security Police of the Warsaw District. Meisinger became the head of this office until March 1941. During this period, he became famous for numerous crimes committed on civilian Polish and Jewish population, including the carrying out of AB shares and directing mass executions in Palmiry (the number of victims of this action is calculated at 1700) . Meisinger, due to his cruelty, even received the nickname "Butcher of Warsaw". On January 1, 1940 he was promoted to the rank of SS-Standartenführer. In March 1941, he was transferred to the RSHA, and then sent to Japan as a police attaché in Tokyo. He remained in that position until May 1945, participating in the creation of unreal plans for "resolving the Jewish question," in which the reigns of the Third Reich and Japan were involved. On September 6, 1945, the American authorities arrested Meisinger in Tokyo, and then released him to Poland for trial. He stood together with three other criminals (including the Governor of the Warsaw District Ludwig Fischer) before the Supreme National Tribunal in Warsaw on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity. The trial took place in the hall of the Polish Teachers' Union at ul. Smulikowskiego 6/8 [1]. On March 3, 1947, he was found guilty and sentenced to death. He was executed by hanging on March 7, 1947 in the Mokotów prison.
