List ashhleyfit's Instagram In a perfect powerlifting world we would be able to only squat, bench and deadlift 😆 but not every day I get to do a main lift. The first video is a super set of strict military press and upright row for shoulders🙌🏼 THESE BURNED!!!!!! If the bar bell is too heavy start with a lighter weight , most gyms have smaller bar bells (20lbs, 30lbs etc) here I did 4x10 (10 military press and 10 upright rows) If your new to powerlifting don't neglect accessory work . It's SUPER HELPFUL. Building shoulders helps all of your lifts. Keep your core tight and don't bounce or use your legs to help you push the weight, if your bouncing drop the weight. It's ACCESSORY work not your main lift it's okay to go light with these to get the form down. •
The second video is dumb Bell bench. These obviously help your bench . I STRUGGLED with these at first. Doing db bench helps you build up your arms in an isolated state. I found that doing dumb Bell bench really made my arms stronger because it's not one bar your pushing it's each arm has its own weight and it's extremely hard to keep tight and control the weight. Again, start these off light and slow and controlled. 🏓There are a million shoulder exercises and, shake weight aside, they all have a time and place. These 4 (and each of their variations) are my personal favorites because they hit your shoulders from every which way and, together, form a well rounder shoulder workout.

🐿Lateral Raises are often how I'll start my workout to "pre-fatigue" your shoulders, warm them up, and get the blood flowing. I like pre-fatigue sets because it helps you recruit the right muscles from the get-go rather than building up during your strength sets. I'll also finish my workouts with lateral raise variations as "burnout" sets for low weight/high reps. 2-3 sets of 12-20 reps is perfect.

🤠The Overhead Press is the old school favorite and, again, there are a million variations (barbell, dumbbell, kettlebell, seated, etc) and they all work very well. The barbell and dumbbell variations are my personal favorites and allow you to push heavier weights for more strength and "progressive overload." 3-5 sets of 3-8 reps is perfect.

👨🏻‍🍳The Arnold Press is one of the most underrated shoulder exercises and holy hell does it light you up. I save this one for the 2nd or 3rd shoulder exercise of the workout because you're better off using moderate weights and medium to high reps rather than going wicked heavy. 3-4 sets of 6-12 reps is perfect.

🐳The Rear Delt Raise is crucial because it strengthens the most commonly neglected areas so it keeps your shoulders healthy and pain free. This drill is similar to the lateral raise in that you can do it at the beginning or end of your workouts for pre-fatigue or burnout sets. 2-3 sets of 12-20 reps is perfect.
