One particular #legend is the #koifish’s claim to fame. An ancient tale tells of a huge school of golden #koi swimming upstream the Yellow River in #China. Gaining #strength by fighting against the current, the school glimmered as they swam together through the river. When they reached a #waterfall at the end of the river, many of the koi turned back, letting the flow of the #river carry them away.

The remaining koi refused to give up. Leaping from the depths of the river, they attempted to reach the top of the waterfall to no avail. Their efforts caught the attention of local demons, who mocked their #efforts and heightened the waterfall out of malice. After a hundred years of jumping, one koi finally reached the top of the waterfall. List forg00dnesscakes's Instagram Half-marathon #2 ✔️😃 Lot of mixed feelings today. 
1) Best race experience ever. The lake water shimmered like glass. The views were so breathtaking I gasped several times. Little kids were high-fiving runners along the course. The crowd at the finish line had me feeling like I was running out of the tunnel at Ford Field. The food tent post race had the best watermelon I've ever tasted. There was Moomers and chocolate milk 😍😋 2) Some of the funniest signs ever. "If Trump can run, so can you!" and "Slow down so I can check out your ass" had me 😂
3) I was plagued with excruciating oblique and abdominal cramps in mile 5 despite my lungs and legs feeling awesome. Had me hunched over in pain for 2 mins and walking for another 3 before I could muster the strength to jog again. As the pain ebbed, I eased back into race pace, downing a gel and hydrating. The same cramps struck again unexplained at mile 10. And at mile 12 the hammies joined the party. It was a test of will, unlike anything I've experienced. I saw the finish line and as adrenaline kicked in, I somehow was still within PR range... ?! Hams burning, remembering why I decided to start running 10 months ago, the wise words of @michiganmarathoner and all her encouragement, the positive vibes of my (insta)friends and family.... I made a decision. I was going to run across that finish line with no regrets. A determined surge propelled me past 4 people as I entered the final turn on the high school track where the finish line was. I can honestly say I ran past the finish line. It was a calm but emotional moment for me, because I found out way after the race, that I DID PR by 0.8 seconds! 1:50:55 😅. Holy moly... When plan A goes down, and plans B through Z follow suit, remember what drives you. You can still burn for yourself. Push your limits, and never let doubt overwhelm your ambitions. It wasn't my best race, but knowing that I could've ran my goal time were it not for the cramps at mile 5, and that I didn't let them take away from my joy of running today... That is sweeter than any macaron or cupcake 😊🏃🏻 1524084750682255329_2002990
