Video by @pedromcbride// Heading home: I had the privilege to spend time at the @r.e.s.c.u.eelephant orphanage this summer where a small group of dedicated animal lovers are helping save these orphaned cuties and create a conservation model at the same time with @nrt_kenya.It is amazing how independent each of these orphaned elies are - some are sweet and gentle while others want to wrestle all day. Photograph by @thomaspeschakThe best camera/lens combination is the one you are holding in your hands! I was walking through coastal forest on the tiny Seychelles island of Cousine when a white term began to hover inches from my face and tried to land on my head. Unfortunately I was on my way to go diving, inaddition to wearing a wetsuit and clutching my fins in my teeth I was holding my heavy/bulky underwater camera setup. With no other option than use the gear in my hands, I raised my underwater rig to my eye, framed as best i could and hit the shutter.I think this certainly the only terrestrial photograph that I have ever shot for @natgeomagazine with my underwater camera. @natgeocreative#seychelles#seabirds

Photo by @renan_ozturkMonster and Washer Woman towers within what seems like infinite layers of @canyonlandsnpsgeology. I remember climbing them both in the same day when I was young and wide-eyed about the adventure of the climbing life. On the summits I added a few drawings in the registers which are rich with history and culture. Just recently I went back and snapped this photo with @chrisburkard.I have to say that my excitement and appreciation for this place has only grown. @snackfarmer@tidesinourveins@taylorfreesolo#protectbearsears

Video by @paulnicklen// What does it mean when a 50 foot-long whale weighing 60,000 pounds hurls itself out of the ocean over and over? I shot this on #8kin slow motion as I wanted the moment to last forever while studying every detail. More importantly, we must control ship traffic in critical migratory and feeding corridors of these noise sensitive leviathans. Follow me at @paulnicklento see more. Photo by @stephenwilkes.  Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, enjoying quality time with family and friends. I wanted to share some of my favorite moments of my “Day to Night” Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. In this “loup view” of the photograph you’ll notice that time is changing as the parade unfolds, seeing the giant balloons as they arrive, bringing smiles to the families everywhere. The fun part in creating these photographs is finding the hidden moments that make this image so special. My favorite was discovering a family enjoying Thanksgiving dinner on the Night side of the photograph! Enjoy and Happy Holiday! To see more images from my travels near and far, follow me @stephenwilkes.   #thanksgiving#macysthanksgivingdayparade#columbuscircle#spongebob#spiderman#sonic#snoopy#holidays #nyc#daytonight

Video by @bertiegregory.Extreme climber Alejo Sanchez descends down an enormous rock face deep in the heart of the unexplored Chiribiquete National Park, Colombia. When he reached the bottom of this cliff, he made a remarkable discovery. He found a massive panel of ancient paintings featuring jaguars, people and more. This area is home to many of these paintings, representing some of the earliest evidence of humans in the Amazon. I shot this whilst accompanying a team from Fundacion Herencia, an incredible group of people doing real 21st century exploration. It’s very humbling to know that there are still places on this planet we know almost nothing about. But despite it’s remoteness, it is still under threat. We owe a huge thanks to Parks Colombia and the Colombian Ministry of Culture for their support. For more on this place, Stay tuned for @stevewinterphoto‘s upcoming jaguar story for @natgeoMagazine. Also stayed tuned for our jaguar TV show for @natgeowildpremiering in the US on December 10th. Photograph by George Steinmetz @geosteinmetzLobster entrée for 830 people is prepared at the biggest wedding facility in China. The meal consisted of 13 courses, and all of them contained meat or seafood.Protein consumption has increased rapidly in China due to higher income and more food options. This has turned the country into the world’s largest importer of food, to feed all of the pigs, chickens, ducks and cows.If the rest of the world consumes as much protein per person as we do in the United States, our planet will be in serious trouble. To learn more about the global food supply, follow @feedtheplanet#food4thought

Video by @jenniferhayesigA vulnerablesea turtle hatchling makes its way to the Gulf Stream in desperate search of weed cover to hide in. When sea turtles hatch they crawl across sand through a gauntlet of birds and mammals before they enter the water greeted by an ocean full of hungry predators. A very few luckysea turtle hatchlings will survive long enough to find their way to floating rafts of algae called sargassum weed to hide in until they are big enough to fend for themselves. The sargassum canopies are critical to survival of these endangered sea turtles. // On assignment for @natgeostory about the importance of Sargassum weed as critical habitat in the sea. // with @thephotosociety@natgeocreative@daviddoubilet// #ocean#baby#turtle#seaturtle#gulfstream#vulnerable#endangeredspeciesfor #moreoceanfollow @jenniferhayesig
