All jokes aside, I think this post genuinely might be my most important post to date since starting this page, and heres why:

Social media, particularly Instagram, is a fantastic platform to use to spread knowledge, grow a brand and interact with people from all over the world. Whilst it has many benefits, it also has some huge drawbacks that NEED to be highlighted.

Many fitness pages will only show you pictures of an individual with the best lighting, angle and effects, never giving away what they look like 99% of the time un flexed without the best lighting in the room. This in turn leads to a bucket load of false expectations from people looking at these pictures, and also causes many people to compare themselves to the pictures they see on Instagram, in turn creating insecurities and sabotaging self confidence.

⚡️I’m of course no saint and if you scroll through my feed you’ll see that I’m completely guilty of this too, finding great lighting/angles in the gym to get pictures in to then share on my page. Whilst this looks great for growing my brand it has to be said that it’s not exactly authentic/transparent.

Moving forward I’m of course still going to take these pictures because I want to grow my brand and showcase my physique (I am a fitness page after all). I also think its important for the Vegan movement to show whats possible by removing animal products for your diet. That being said, I’d also like to do more authentic posts and show you times when my physique perhaps doesn’t look quite like the image on the left (arguably the best condition I’ve ever been in).

This leads me onto the picture you can see above. Here’s me, 10 weeks with no training whatsoever and eating/drinking whatever the hell I feel like. I have missed training so much and I cannot wait to get back into a solid gym/nutrition routine (hopefully a few weeks at most).

You‘re stuck? Can‘t seem to progress on your weight loss journey? Here are 4 practical ways you can overcome your plateau!

1. Make sure you‘re tracking right! Some people are against tracking and yes you can lose weight without tracking if you know what you‘re doing, BUT if you want to safely lose weight, tracking is key! Don’t skip tracking the handful of nuts, the oil you used to cook, the  tablespoon of peanut butter. They all matter and contain calories that can be the reason your hard work is not paying off!

2. You‘re tracking everything right and eat in the theoretical deficit you calculated for yourself, but you‘re still not losing weight or have stopped losing weight? Simple, you probably have to decrease your calories in order to get into a deficit again. I recommend 100-200 calorie steps, since you should‘ve already been in a deficit calorie wise anyways!

3. Increase your activity! Walk 5.000-10.000 steps everyday, cycle if you want to, work out etc! Moving your body is key and will make you burn more calories. You can also do cardio, but it‘s definitely not necessary to lose weight!

4.Do a diet break. Diet breaks can be handy, because you‘re giving your body a break from the diet! You‘ll eat at your maintenance calories (TDEE) for 1-2 weeks, not gain any weight (since you eat as many cals as you burn), gain motivation, increase your calorie efficiency again and set yourself up to continue succeeding at your weight loss journey after the break!☺️
