It’s hard to share your story. Especially when it’s one that has a lot of hurt, pain, and sadness. •••
My life has been full of a lot of pain, but more importantly it has been full of joy. I’ve learned that joy and pain can coexist as counterintuitive as that may seem. •••
A new friend of mine, Kara, asked if she could interview me and talk about my 20-year battle with depression and anxiety. I am grateful for the opportunity she gave me on her amazing podcast "Today I Am Enough" @todayiamenough . •••
I have felt compelled for many years to share this part of my story in the hopes that others will know they are not alone and that they can get the help they need.
I am so done and so over the stigma of mental illness. Suicide rates in teens have gone up by nearly 40 percent in the last decade alone. We cannot AFFORD to be silent on this matter!! •••
Truly hoping and praying that I can be a voice and help for those who fight this stigma or may feel shame. When you dig deep to talk about the hard stuff, share your story, and accept yourself, you set the shame free and in effect you set yourself free. •••
The last nearly 25 minutes of this podcast Kara and I discuss ways to get help, cope, and hang on through the dark times whether it’s holding on for yourself or a loved one.
Link to this Podcast is in my profile. Be sure to check out Kara’s other amazing podcast session as well. xo, Julie
