The Zayed Giving Convoys, which is run by an Emirati, Saudi and Egyptian volunteer medical team, led by Emirati surgeon Dr Adel Al Shameri, have resumed their humanitarian mission in Egyptian villages, by treating hundreds of needy children and elderly patients.
The organisation of the humanitarian medical mission falls within the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan declaring 2017 as the Year of Giving. It is also part of a humanitarian millennial giving campaign and a joint programme of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Dar Al Ber Society, Sharjah Charity House and the Saudi-German Hospitals Group, in co-ordination with many local authorities.
Dr Reem Othman, Ambassador of Humanitarian Work, expressed her happiness at the many international successes of the Zayed Giving Convoys, while adding that they have eased the suffering of millions of people through their volunteering and humanitarian activities. Humanitarian work has become a way of life in the UAE, reflecting the noble human values and civilised behaviour inherited from the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founder of the UAE, she added.
