The most important thing post-partum is NOT weight loss And not all progress needs to be shown in front of a mirror, taking a selfie! I am currently 4.5 months post-partum, cycling through stabilization & hypertrophy phases every month for my training, and still very much focused on performance > aesthetics .
When I first got back into training again at 6 weeks post-partum, all I could do was shake my head & laugh at myself as I tried to do the things that I used to do with ease ♀️ have never been unable to do a pull-up before until that point! The first focus when getting back to any training program post-partum though should be focusing on: posture, joint alignment, muscle imbalances developed throughout the pregnancy, stability, motor skills, & deep core stabilizers. THEN comes whatever else you're trying to do - such as build lean muscle mass, lose body fat, speed, distance, etc .
Building on a rocky foundation will sooner or later lead to further imbalances & eventually injury! Don't neglect this phase of training altogether, even if you just cycle it into your primary goal - like Muscle Endurance for body fat loss or Hypertrophy for lean body mass gain. Focusing on the short-term will only produce short-term results. Take care of your body & it will take care of you - long term!
