List florianschulzvisuals's Instagram These beautiful prints were left by a full grown wolf in the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia in Canada. It is so much fun to follow such tracks on a beach because you know that the wolf has just passed along the very same spot you are standing on. And somewhere at the end of these tracks is the wolf. Soon the high tide will wash the tracks away again. I used a strong wide-angle lens to show the tracks part of the landscape. Even though these are not human foot prints, this image makes me think of the National Parks slogan: "Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints." What is so special about the Great Bear Rainforest is, that there are no permanent tracks by humans - like roads leading into it. Access is by boat only. We sailed there with our little 27 ft trimaran. #florianschulzphotography #florianschulzproduction #wilderness #wolf #tracks #tracking #greatbearrainforest #wild #conservation #nikon #freedomtoroam @florianschulzvisuals 1611095944317625355_2214831106

List visitbellacoola's Instagram Mom and her Pink Salmon male.
The Pink run is very strong this year. The Bears seem very picky about how much they'd consume of any particular Salmon they'd catch. Male Pinks...maybe a bite or two. Female Pinks...if with eggs...a more consuming meal.
Same for Chinook...females over males for a more complete meal.

List sarahrobertsofficial's Instagram Anybody else fancy a Sunday morning bear hug right about now? .
.
.

Today I woke up feeling a bit like a bear with a sore head, (all self inflicted- no sympathy necessary ) but it got me thinking... what is it that makes one of the worlds most dangerous creatures look so snuggly? Is it the big paws? The thick fuzzy fur? Or those big beedy eyes? Either way, the last thing you would want to do is approach a wild one for a cuddle. Attacks are rare, but if a bear does take a disliking to you, it usually goes for your head/face first. Those scenes in ‘The Revenant’, yeah they’re pretty accurate! Happy Sunday guys

List gerryvanderwalt's Instagram A morning with a spirit bear on Gribbell Island - incredible!
.
Some Spirit Bear facts:
.
- Dubbed spirits of the forest, Kermode bears  are a subspecies of the American black bear with a rare recessive gene that makes their fur white or cream.
.
- Spirit bears are found only in the Great Bear Rainforest.  It is the world’s largest intact temperate rainforest.
.
- No one agrees on the exact number of spirit bears living in this corner of the world, but the best estimate is between 200 and 400 individuals.
.
- One in ten black bears is pale, and to produce pale cubs both parents – white or black – must carry the gene that results in the white or cream-coloured coat.
.
- The First Nations communities that have lived in the region for thousands of years call the spirit bear moskgm’ol, which simply means ‘white bear’, and view the animal as sacred.
.
- White bears are more successful at catching salmon in daylight compared with black ones. Pale bears are better camouflaged than dark ones by day, because they contrast less with a bright sky background, so salmon don’t notice them as much.
.
- Pacific salmon are the lifeblood of the Great Bear Rainforest. When they return from the ocean in autumn to spawn spirit bears emerge from the forest to feast on pink, chum and coho salmon before going into hibernation.
.
- The bears play a key role in the ecosystem, contributing to the growth of the forest by spreading marine nutrients. They carry salmon carcasses deep into the forest where they are absorbed by the forest floor and the nutrients from the ocean are effectively transferred to the trees.
.
- Because numbers of salmon are down, grizzlies travel farther to look for food and are encroaching on spirit bear territory for the first time. This might be bad news for spirit bears. Grizzlies are larger and stronger, and usually chase other bears off from prime fishing spots.
.
- Bear biologists are concerned about the lack of adequate logging guidelines to protect the big old cedar trees that the spirit bears depend on for hibernating and giving birth to their young.
