When I was in first grade, I used to go to my school library and book fairs, strictly to look at the covers of books. I had a problem with reading, the words and letters in my head would jumble. The only books I'd read up until 6th grade were Junie B Jones, and picture books. Anything bigger than that, scared me. Kids would tease me for it, others thought I had special needs, and it hurt back then. I skimmed books here and there since then, read Bunnicula and a book named Spunky. Hardly read any high school requirement books😁 (Mainly because they were boring) It wasn't until I turned 17 that I read Harry Potter for the first time. And after the very late discovery that I am indeed Dyslexic, I decided to pick up all the children's classics I admired back in elementary school and trained my brain to read at a pace where the words did not intimidate me. I'm still a slow reader, and some letters still jumble (N's become Z's// letters will switch around when I read them) But missing out on these stories made me realize how much they impact my life! I'm bubbly and playful because of the children's stories I read, which impacts the lives of the people I meet, including you guys! ✨
Bookstagram has helped me read at a faster rate - without jumbling too many words! I love YA and NA fiction! I love sci-fi and fantasy books! And now, I'm writing a book series!! Life is pretty funny sometimes, huh?
